The Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) selected a panel of experts to briefly come up with a Personal Data Protection bill (PDP) that would ensure Indian citizens have control over their personal data. After working on this bill for over a year, in 2018, panel of experts under the guidance of retired Supreme Court judge Justice B. N. Srikrishna (Srikrishna Committee) presented the draft version of this bill. The Bill has yet to be cleared by the Indian Parliament.
