GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It is the European Union’s data protection law and it came into effect on the 25th of May 2018. GDPR has extraterritorial implications. Meaning, even if you are not physically present in the EU or it’s territories, GDPR applies, if you supply products or services to EU citizens or residents. Breach fines for violation of GDR terms could be as high as EUR 20 million or 4% of global income, whichever is greater. Let’s take a look at each of these briefly.
